Abe Estess DDS
President | Board Member
Dr. Abe Estess is a board-certified Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon originally from Santa Cruz, CA. A graduate of Stanford University, USC School of Dentistry and University of Washington Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery, he now lives and practices in Hermosa Beach, CA. An avid surfer, he first visited Fiji in 2005 and instantly fell in love with the islands and people. He has subsequently become an integral part of the Fiji Dental & Medical Foundation, having participated regularly since 2013. He stepped into the role of Director of the Foundation in 2023.
Mark Brown

Mark Brown first visited Fiji in 1997 on a surfing trip, and has since made many trips back. When asked why he’s involved in the Fiji Dental & Medical Foundation he responded, “The people of Fiji who make the journey so fabulous continue to excite me with their wisdom and generosity. They’re always smiling; their happy faces are the reminder of the simple things in life that make all of us happy. Their needs are put aside for yours while you are in Fiji. In the many years I have been to Fiji, I have been taken care of and I would now like to return the favor and help take care of those who I care for so much and hold so deeply in my heart.”
Greg Herd DDS

Dr. Greg Herd, graduate of the University of Southern California School of Dentistry, has been practicing dental care for more than 25 years.. Dr. Herd and his wife first visited Fiji while on their honeymoon where they were not only introduced to the beauty of the islands, but they were immediately drawn to the beauty of the people, their hospitality and kindness. The Herds have returned to Fiji every year, but the appeal of their annual trips to the islands went beyond recreation and the couple also began offering humanitarian services when needed. Dr. Herd soon realized that he could offer more to the people of Fiji with proper resources in place. As a result, he partnered with other like-minded philanthropists and health care providers to form the Fiji Dental & Medical Foundation.
Greg Moegling DDS
Board Member
Dr. Greg Moegling grew up in La Habra, California and graduated from University of Southern California School of Dentistry in 1981. He has maintained a private practice in Whittier, California since graduating. His first experience in Fiji was a surf trip in 1995. The Fijian people made a lasting impression on him, they were quick with a smile, warm and welcoming to family, community and strangers. When the chance arose to volunteer in the inaugural clinic, he was quick to say yes. The ongoing rewarding experience of working with Fiji DMF renewed his passion for dentistry and the people we serve.
Allyson Estess MD
Board Member
Dr. Allyson Estess is a board-certified Orthopedic surgeon, practicing in LA’s South Bay since 2013. Born and raised in Southern California, Dr. Estess attended Stanford University, University of California Irvine Medical School and University of Southern California Orthopedic Surgery Residency. A long-time competitive soccer player, runner and now triathlete, Dr. Estess values the opportunity to help others stay active and healthy. She first visited Fiji in 2005 and has traveled back numerous times, both as a member of Fiji DMF, and separately on much-loved vacations with her husband and young children. The magic of the place is matched only by the incredible welcoming spirit of the local residents, inspiring Dr. Estess to give back through the Foundation.
